Preacher Needed And Available For Canadian Work

Sewell Hall

We who live near other gospel preachers can scarcely imagine the loneliness of those who are isolated. We take for granted the privilege of discussing problems with others who understand them, of getting objective reactions to our brainstorms, of exchanging ideas, of sharing experiences, and studying together points of scripture. These things are more than mere pleasures; they are very nearly essential to effective work.

Paul's weakness, fear, and much trembling when he first came to Corinth may well have been related to the fact that he was alone. At least there is clear indication that his spirits were revived when Silas and Timothy joined him (Acts 18:5). Jesus sent out preachers two by two and seldom in the New Testament do we find one preacher laboring in a city without the companionship and assistance of another.

Southern Alberta

Surely the vast area of Southern Alberta in Western Canada deserves at least two sound and faithful gospel preachers who can give their full time to the work. Since the latter part of 1965, Brother Joe Corley has been nearly 300 miles from the nearest preacher. All reports indicate that he is doing a good work in Lethbridge (Four have recently been baptized there.) but help is needed in the area. Some of the good work that was being done when there were two who had to be suspended. Prospects appear good for the future but many opportunities will be lost if the Corley's must continue working alone.

A Family Ready

Brother Marvin Noble is ready to move into Southern Alberta as soon as support and moving expenses are available. Brother Corley states that Brother Noble is peculiarly qualified for the work. He has had experience in Canada, having established the church in Lethbridge several years ago. He knows the problems involved in the work. His wife being a Canadian, they and their five children will not be faced with a difficult adjustment to a "foreign country" with a strangely cold climate. Above all, he is recommended as sound in the faith and his whole family as splendid people.

Here is a needy, yet promising field. Here is a laborer well qualified to serve. The need is money. Surely those of us where the church is strong can supply that. Brother Noble is willing to visit churches which may be able to supply either moving expenses or salary. His address is: Marvin Noble, Route 3, Kendall Road, Walla Walla, Washington.

It will mean much to the Corley's to have this family nearby. But it will surely mean more to the cause of the Lord in that area.
