- Calls on you to make a "right decision"' while opportunities last.
RIGHT DECISIONS REQUIRE COURAGE. (Judges 7:2-3, f.)
- To depend upon the strength of God, not of numbers and arms.
- God can not use the "fearful and trembling". (Cf. Deut. 20:8)
- The "fearful" (lacking faith) will be lost. (Rev. 21:8)
RIGHT DECISIONS REQUIRE: INTELLIGENT CONSIDERATION. (lu. 14:28-33)
- üÆial">Gospel obedience is not "by accident" "blindly". (Cf. Matt. 28:19)
- Count the cost, and accept heavy sacrifice. (Lu. 14:33)
- God promises no easy road; just Victory for the Faithful. (Rev.2:l0)
RIGHT DECISIONS IMPOSE OBLIGATIONS. (Joshua 24:14-24)
- Pledge to serve God invalid if we keep our idols. (vs. 14)
- Jehovah is a Holy God, a "jealous" God. (vs. 19)
- Therefore:
- put away the foreign gods (any rival affection)
- incline heart unto Jehovah, hear Him. (vs. 27)
RIGHT DECISIONS MUST BE MADE WHOLE-HEARTEDLY. (lu. 9:57-62)
- Neither material considerations nor earthly obligations are first.
- Doesn't take much of a man, but ALL there is of him.
- Christ doesn't want those "look back" ....
- Such are not" fit" (suited) for the kingdom of God.
- Decision to serve Christ is long-term -- for all time.
Concl.....
- Decision to serve Christ requires mature judgment. It is not a children's game; we should not be rushed by unreasoned emotions, or influenced by family, business, or social considerations.
- Yet, despite the cost, it is best and greatest decision of life. It alone has to do with our eternal soul, and its destiny.
- If not to Christ -- TO WHOM SHALL WE GO? (Jn. 6:66-69)
As Peter said,
'LORD, TO WHOM SHALL WE GO? THOU HAST 3 WORDS OF ETERNAL LIFE."
