A Correction

James W. Adams

In an article entitled, "The Mother of Invention," in the Gospel Guardian of August 6, 1953, I made from memory a quotation from MacKnight on Phil. 4:15,16. A number of scholars had been consulted and their works laid aside. The article was then written and a quotation made from memory. MacKnight was incorrectly quoted. On rereading the article the error was noticed. It is my desire that our readers be given the correction. The wrong quotation changes. the argument and conclusions none at all, hence a simple correction of the quotation will suffice. The quotation was given in my article as follows: "Still others notably MacKnight, translates the statement, 'When I departed into Macedonia'." I should have said, "Still others, notably MacKnight, translate the statement, 'When I went forth in Macedonia'." I also said, "If MacKnight is right in translating the Gk., 'apo,' by 'into,' then Brother Brewer is wrong." I should have said, "If MacKnight is right in translating the Gk., 'apo,' by 'in,' then Brother Brewer is wrong."
