Office Happenings

Editorial

The first thing we mention is our attractive new catalogue — 1969 model. Most of you will have received your copy by the time you read this page. If yours has not come yet, be patient with us. It is in process of being mailed to you. This catalogue represents many, many hours of hard work — the most of it done by William Wallace. The fine printing job was done by Jesse Kelley at La Porte, Texas; and the hand labor of collating, sorting and mailing out was done mostly by our office force with a few others being called in to assist for a few days.

We are proud of this venture; and hope our readers will use it extensively. This will make your ordering easier, and will expedite our handling of your orders. No catalogue could possibly contain ALL the items that might be of interest — books, Bibles, lesson materials, church supplies, chairs, furniture, baptismal garments, duplicating equipment, and a thousand and one other items but we have selected a wide variety of things most generally desired. And WE CAN GET FOR YOU ANYTHING. ELSE YOU MAY WANT, if it is in print or is available from any source whatsoever. Just write us, and let us help you!!

Increasingly in the months ahead Brother Wallace hopes to be traveling among the churches; but let us make one thing absolutely clear: When, and if, he comes to hold a gospel meeting, he is there to preach the gospel of Christ, NOT to promote the Gospel Guardian journal or Gospel Guardian business! A number of good congregations have written him for meetings, and he will be holding several in the months ahead. In such endeavors he is NOT acting as a representative of the Gospel Guardian Company, but is simply fulfilling his obligation and calling as a preacher of the gospel of Christ.

There will be other occasions, however, in which he will definitely undertake an itinerary in the interests of the Gospel Guardian — acquainting brethren with the journal, showing how it can be of inestimable benefit to all those who are truly interested in the cause of Christ; and also explaining and demonstrating a tremendous variety of materials which can serve a highly useful purpose in helping you to win others to Christ, and to strengthen and deepen your own spiritual life. On such trips, we earnestly solicit for him the courteous brotherly reception which you have always given to those of us who have worked with the Guardian through the years - Brother Cogdill, Brother Farish, Luther Blackmon and quite a number of others. Such visits by Brother Wallace can be mutually helpful both to you and to us.

As you have noticed (we hope!) we are in the process of a continuing effort to up-grade the Gospel Guardian in every way - appearance, make-up, content, and service to you, our customers. We believe we are making obvious progress in all these areas. We are grateful for the many letters and comments we have received from you in recognition of these efforts. There is one way you can help (everybody can!) which we have not mentioned — that is, in increasing our circulation. We hope you will keep this in mind; if you give gifts, whether birthday, anniversary, graduation, or other, let a year's subscription to the Gospel Guardian be prominent on your list. We have a FEW instances (all too few for our liking!) in which some good brother or sister sends a subscription each year to every family in the local congregation. (Special rates for such as this.) Then we also have a few gospel preachers who remember to send in subscriptions from time to time as they travel among brethren and have opportunity to talk about the journal. Remember, you do THEM a favor when you subscribe for them!

We have some excellent articles scheduled for the months ahead; look for them. Continue to help us as you can; and let us help you. Browse through the new catalogue; you may see many things you'd like to have either for yourself or as gifts to others. And let us thank you for your faithful and loyal help through all these long and troubled years. The future looks much. much brighter for us — thanks to you, to Bill Wallace, to a host of others — but mostly to God!
