Talk Like John, Andrew And Philip
One day John saw Jesus coming to him and he said, "Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sins of the world." John 1:29.
John was baptizing with water to make Jesus manifest to Israel. He had been told that upon whom he should see the Spirit descending, and remaining on him, the same would be he "which baptizeth with the Holy Ghost." After John baptized Jesus, the heavens were opened and the Spirit of God descended like a dove and did light upon Jesus. Matt. 3:16.
So John testified, saying, "I saw the Spirit descending from heaven like a dove, and it abode upon Him... And I saw, and bare record that this is the Son of God!" John 1:29-34. Let us use John's record in telling others about Jesus.
Andrew and another disciple who had heard John exclaim, "Behold the Lamb of God!" followed after Jesus to see. The Lord turned around and asked them, "What seek ye?" John 1:35-42.
They replied that they wanted to know where He lived. Jesus not only showed them the place and His hospitality through the rest of the day, but He also proved to Andrew that He was the Christ as John had declared Him to be. Immediately, Andrew went and told his brother, Simon Peter, and brought him to Jesus with the words, "We have found the Messiah, which is being interpreted, the Christ!"
When was the last time you talked enthusiastically about the Lord Jesus to your brother or other close relatives?
The next day the Lord asked Philip to follow Him, also. Philip looked up and found Nathanael to tell him, "We have found Him of whom Moses in the law, and the prophets did write, Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph." John 1:43-51. Nathanael replied, "Can there any good thing come out of Nazareth?" Philip answered, "Come and see!"
Nathanael went to see and to converse with Jesus. In a few minutes he was exclaiming, "Rabbi, thou art the Son of God; thou art the King of Israel!"
Tell your friends to "come and see" what God has had his servants write in the Scriptures about Jesus.
John's few words to his disciples, Andrew's confession to his brother, Simon Peter, and Philip's declaration to Nathanael were all responsible for bringing people to consider Christ's teaching. Are you also telling folks that we have found the Christ, the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world?
