Meditations On God's Word

W. Arthur Moody

'Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he." Proverbs 29; 18.

"There was no open vision" after the days of Malachi until the father of John the Baptist was filled with the Holy Ghost and prophesied. He taught of the coming redemption and salvation in Christ. He prophesied that John would go "before the face of the Lord to prepare His ways; to give knowledge of salvation unto His people by the remission of their sins." Luke 1:67-80.

Our days are not like those of Eli the priest and the child Samuel. "The word of the Lord was precious in those days; there was no open vision." I Samuel 3:1. And we are not in a period like that between Malachi and Zacharias.

Christians have the vision and the law! For God "hath in these last days spoken unto us by His Son!" Hebrews 1:1-2. Let us abide in the vision given us so that we perish not. Let us keep His most holy law and be happy.
