Warning ! ! ! ! Beware — Bad Check Writer!
Dan D. Keith, Sr., former resident of Mobile and Birmingham, Alabama, is going about passing small worthless personal checks. His usual approach is to get some preacher, elder, or other member of the church to cash a small check for him. He has on various occasions given as reference, Robert F. Hendrix and the Bellview church of Christ in Birmingham, in getting a check cashed. He worshipped here for about four months but was never identified with this church. Please do not encourage this man in this error. This man is about six feet tall, fifty years old, rather heavy set, and wears glasses. He was recently reported to have passed worthless checks in Jacksonville, Florida, and Savannah, Georgia. This was sent in by Robert F. Hendricks.

News Briefs
A. C. Grider, 2914 7th Street, Meridian, Was. 39301: I recently mislaid a list of about thirty names of additions to my mailing list and of changes of addresses. If you don't receive my paper on time please write again. I am sorry but there is no way to find them."
J. P. Halbrook, Southside church of Christ, Belle Glade, Florida: "Belle Glade, Florida, is situated in Palm Beach County, Florida, on Lake Okeechobee, a lake about 50 miles long and 30 miles wide. This community is the hub of the sugar industry in Florida. The faithful brethren of this area have recently completed a meetinghouse at Belle Glade, having lost the former meeting place to the liberals about two years ago. These brethren are straining very hard to meet the initial heavy payments on their building. A young high school graduate, Ron Halbrook, preaching at present for gratis, will leave for college in a few short weeks, the Lord willing. An immediate need for a full time gospel preacher to take the work here. Is there some faithful church somewhere who will send and support a gospel preacher to us in this time of heavy financial and spiritual need, or a dedicated gospel preacher who will assist us by providing partial support for himself? The need is so urgent! Refer to Brother Harry Pickup at Florida College, Temple Terrace, Fla., Brother Byron Conley at Bartow, Fla., or Brother Tom Butler of Lakeland, Fla., concerning the need here. Please contact us direct by addressing: Southside church of Christ, P. O. Box 394, Belle Glade, Florida, or phone 996-2574 after 9 p.m."
Henry A. Kirkland, Box 275, Dillard, Oregon: "Brother Yater Tant closed one of his special meetings on Current Problems at the church in Dillard, Oregon, July 24th. At the invitation one family took a stand for the truth and other families have indicated their intention to study further and forsake the paths of digression, quite prevalent, locally. The Dillard congregation began two years ago with 18 and present attendance runs around 70. The congregation is almost fully supporting their preacher and zeal runs high. The Winston congregation from which the Dillard church began has now been led further into digression by Lester W. Fisher, who originally encouraged some to "run away the antis." They are now an incorporated church with a Board of Directors who enunciate and develop what the New Testament teaches in the preaching of the Gospel and benevolent activities. This is confirmed by their charter on file with the State of Oregon. The Directors are in at least two cases novices, and were "elected" mostly with women votes. This is the next logical step in most of present digressions which begin with an over zealous attitude which sets at naught God's Word and patterns revealed therein, It is suggested that any church accepting this preacher, Lester W. Fisher, first investigate him, as he has in times past masqueraded under the guise of a "middle-of-the-roader" while sowing seeds of discord. For further information write me.
