Forgiveness

Derrel Starling

Many times alien sinners and unfaithful members of the church ask themselves, "Can God truly forgive me after what I have done?"

The avenues of sin are many and the bogs of sin are deep and overwhelming. When one becomes steeped in sin and shame, it is exceedingly difficult to break the bondage of sin and serve God faithfully. Because of this binding sin in our lives, we often hear it said that God cannot forgive anyone for making such a mess of life. Others say that if they did receive the forgiveness of God, then brethren in the church wouldn't forgive them, and so they just continue to wallow in the mire of sin. The DEVIL wants you to think that NO ONE will ever forgive you!

Friend, it matters not how deep into sin you have traveled — lying, stealing, adultery, prostitution, drunkenness, murder, gambling, or robbery, you can be assured that God and faithful brethren will forgive you if you genuinely repent. (Acts 2:38; 8:22; Gal. 6:1,2; James 5:16)

It is true, I'm sorry to say, that often brethren in the church "look down their noses" at those who have forsaken the filth of sin, but you can be certain that there will be faithful members of the body of Christ that will assist, encourage, advise and pray for you as you endeavor to serve God.

Do not be deceived, the road will be difficult, (Prov. 13:15) and even though your many sins are forgiven, the shame, disgrace, and stain of sin will remain. The many heartaches caused by sin will be most difficult to remove, but remember that the reward of an eternal home in the bliss of heaven is worth far more than the devil has to offer.

The tender mercies and loviing kindness of our heavenly Father are extended for the benefit of us all. (2 Pet. 3:9) Faithful brethren are ready to forgive and assist you and the angels in heaven will rejoice. (Luke 15:10) We plead with you to repent of every sin and serve God faithfully.
