Brother Pryde E. Hinton's Statement

Because of oft-repeated statements that brand me as an "anti" (in an unsavory sense), and that attribute to me teachings to which I do not hold relative to the current issues, I believe a statement is necessary.

I believe that churches may contribute to the care of orphans and other needy persons, and that they may cooperate in evangelistic work.

I believe that there is not necessarily a parallel between the United Christian Missionary Society and an orphans' home.

But I believe that there is a parallel between the U. C. M. S. and an organization, formed and corporated for the purpose of establishing and providing an orphans' home; such organization being formed by the churches, for the churches, and of officials selected from among the churches; and having a separate treasury from all the churches.

I do not wish to be identified with any group centering around any religious journal or any school. I want to stand fast in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made me free. Selah!
