The brethren have just completed a preacher's home and are planning the erection of a new church plant in the near future. Roy Cogdill, of Lufkin. Texas, held our fall meeting last November, with one baptism. Glenn L. Wallace, of Abilene, Texas is to begin a meeting, April 2. to 9, services daily, 10:00 a.m. and 7:30 p.m."

—O—

Jack G. White, New London, Texas, April 3: "With pleasure and profit this congregation listened to C. R. Nichol in a meeting just closed here at New London. This great man of God delivered many wonderful lessons. One man was baptized. The church was edified.

When traveling our way be sure to stop and visit with us."

—O—

D. M. Fruzia, Houston, Texas. March 27: "I am now working with the Burbank congregation in Houston. This is one of the newer congregations here. We feel there is an open field to do the Lord's work, in this community. George Fare recently resigned this work, in order to move to Sunny Glenn Home and assist Carlos Speck in that work."

—O—

M. C. Cuthbertson, 693 Chemeketa, Salem, Oregon: "One hundred ninety-five in classes Sunday, out- of total of two hundred members. Three were baptized last evening, with four last Lord's day being baptized also. Attendance at all services very fine, with over one hundred present for mid-week service.

—O—

Cleon Lyle, Little Rock, Ark., March 27: "Seven, were baptized at Fourth and State in March. The Sixth and Arlington Church in Lawton, Okla. closed a meeting the 22nd. in which I preached. Seven were baptized, five restored, and two placed membership. Roy Foutz is doing outstanding work as preacher for this church. Austin Varner and the 8th & Lee Church worked hard for the meeting. This was one of the most pleasant meetings in which I have had a part.

E. E. Highers, who preaches for the Midland Boulevard Church in Fort Smith, preached at Fourth and State."

—O—

T. H. Tarbet, Jr., Hobbs, N. M.: "One was reclaimed, two baptized, and several identified with the Hobbs Church during February No records were broken in attendance or contribution."

A. T. Harris, Dallas, Texas: "The work moves along in a good way at Pearl and Bryan. Brother Overby is entering his eighth year, with the church solidly with him. The past seven years of his service has been pleasant and constructive.

More elders and deacons to be appointed. No church debts, and a first class cooling system for hot weather. When in Dallas, come to see us."

—O—

H. D. Jeffcoat, Fulton, Miss.: "G. C. Brewer is to meet D. N. Jackson. Missionary Baptist, in debate at Fulton Miss. May 9-12. The church will try to care for those who come. One hotel and one tourist camp here. A number at Tupelo, twenty miles away, good paved road. Those who have heard Brother Brewer say he is one of the best, and Mr. Jackson is the man it is said Mr. Bogard's mantle has fallen on. We expect a great debate. Come be with us."

Do Not Tell It!

Do not tell anybody about the plan to double the size of the Gospel Guardian real soon. We want to surprise everybody. But how can we surprise them, if they are not on the subscription list? Use your own judgment, if you think members of the church can do the same things that the denominations do in the same way they do it, and yet for some inexplicable cause shall escape the responsibility of changing the Lord's plans, why tell others about the increase in the size of the Guardian? It might disturb somebody. Somebody reading it in view of its independent viewpoint, might be tempted to think for himself! If you like the Guardian yourself, however, you will probably let the information become known. So why not tell your friends and neighbors that the Price is $2. Tell them where to send their subscriptions; or, better still, why not volunteer to send their check for them the first time, and they will be more familiar with the address by renewal time.

Thos. D. Rose. 1523 Clanton, Shreveport, La. April 4: "On January 1 of this Year a new congregation, known as the Southern Avenue Church. Southern at Hollywood, was started here in Shreveport in an excellent location. So far this work has been very encouraging. In February we had a meeting of ten services, in which ten preachers spoke. On the last day of this month, we hope to begin a series of meetings of eight or ten days. Jess Hall, of Austin, Texas, will preach. Services daily 10 A. M. and 7:30 P. M."

—O—

Sam Medford, Black Butte, Route, Box 368, Cottage Grove, Ore.: "Woodrow W. Hughes the minister of Ontario, Calif. will preach in a meeting at the Calif., Church, beginning Tuesday, April 25 to May 4. Services at 8 P. M., with all-day services Sunday the 30th, with basket dinner at the building, with Brother Hughes speaking morning, afternoon, and evening.

We will appreciate very much for all churches in driving distance to support this meeting by announcing, and with their presence as often as possible,"

—O—

Eugene Lowry, 406 N. Union, Whitesboro, Texas. April 3: "We are happy to report the progress of the work here at Whitesboro since I began my work here. March 1. One was baptized, and one placed membership Wednesday night, March 29. Our attendance has increased in all Bible classes, and we had an increase in attendance of about forty for worship service Sunday, April 3. Our contribution more than doubled over the first Sunday in March. We plan a lectureship in the near future. This has been done and more will be done, for the people have a mind to work."

—O—

Bonds Stocks, Central Church, H. C. Green, Capitol Street Church. "The prospects for the advancement of the cause of Christ in Jackson, Miss., are brighter than they have ever been. The two congregations here are moving forward, and are now working together harmoniously."

—O—

Preston Cotham. Box 229, Childress, Texas, March 27: "There were six baptized, two restored, and one placed membership in the week's meeting I closed here last night. Our work is off to a fine start.

We broadcast from the church study each Saturday at 10:45 A. M., and each Sunday at 9:15 A. M. The colored work here in Childress, that is entirely supported by this congregation, is making some progress."

—O—

Bryan Vinson, Longview. Texas: "Have recently been with Norhill in Houston in my second meeting with this fine congregation. My association with these brethren, and W. L. Wharton, Jr., their preacher, was most enjoyable. Prior to that I was at Orange, Texas, with the new congregation and their preacher John Lee Norris. I begin at Kountz, Texas April 7. and following that at Sour Lake. The month of May is scheduled for an extended effort in Raleigh, N. C."

—O—

Paul C. Keller, 1506 31st St., Sheffield, Ala., March 31: "One confessed faults at Eastside last Sunday. For the second time this month new records were set for both contribution and Bible study attendance. The church met for the first time in the basement of its new building. The Eastside congregation was started in November, 1947 by the church meeting at Seventh and Annapolis. This congregation has contributed much toward a building for Eastside. At the beginning they set aside the amount they had in a building fund for use by Eastside. To this amount they added regular monthly contributions until a year ago. For this help from the Seventh and Annapolis congregation we are grateful.

Since its beginning the Eastside Church has met in the chapel of a local funeral home. Our basement provides increased classroom space and greater seating capacity in its auditorium. The basement has been well-constructed and the work has been done economically. Much of the labor was done by members of the congregation. The building will be completed when we have sufficient funds to do so. No special services were held when we first met in the building. None will be."

WITHDRAWAL ANNOUNCED On January 5, 1949, the Central Church, in Pampa, Texas, withdrew fellowship from J. E. Williams on grounds that are scriptural. Having had hope of his restoration, we at first thought it unnecessary to give the matter any publicity outside of this congregation. Since he has not made confession, and since some untrue reports have gone out regarding the withdrawal, we now think it best to make this statement in our papers. Those who are interested in the charges, procedure, etc., may have the information by writing to either of the elders whose names are signed below.

Elders:

H. E. Saunders Clyde Cox C. C. Woodard D. H. Blue A. Chester Grimes, 1548 Heights Blvd., Houston 8, Texas: "I have now been with the Heights Church in Houston, one month. During that time we have had seven responses. Five of them came last Sunday night, when one placed membership, three were restored, and one was baptized.

The work is very encouraging in every way, and there is at present a united effort among the churches in Houston to publicize the church, and help others to know what it stands for. A mighty evangelism program is now in the making. The Heights congregation is engaging in an extensive newspaper article campaign setting forth the doctrine of Christ.

Homer Haley of Abilene is to be with us in our spring meeting, April 9-16."

—O—

Charles M. Campbell, Akron, Ohio, April 3: "Two were baptized at Brown Street yesterday—a man and his wife. One had been a Baptist and the other a Presbyterian.

Foy E. Wallace, Jr., and Marion Davis will be here for a meeting, April 30-May 7."
