W. E. Brightwell

Fred W. McClung, 1132 Seventeenth St., Anson, Texas, March 10: "Sunday one was restored, Tuesday I baptized a Baptist woman, 89 years old. Her Methodist husband 86 years old was baptized about two months ago. I preached last night on the lectureship program at Knox City."

—O—

D. L. Thompson, Southside Church, Macon, Ga., February 28: "Seven baptisms recently in the work at Southside in Macon. The church is weak in numbers in this part of the state. A daily radio program is being conducted here, and thus far has been the means of teaching several people the truth. This field has been sadly neglected in the past. I think I am correct in saying that I am the only full-time preacher within an eighty mile radius. There are several that preach and do secular work.

I fully appreciate the firm stand that the Gospel Guardian takes for the truth. Without doubt the church would be much better off if preachers throughout the brotherhood would simply preach and teach the truth without compromise."

—O—

Kenneth H. Shehi, 1312 E. Edison, Sunnyside, Wash., March 8: "The church in Sunnyside recently closed a gospel meeting with James L. Standridge, of Richland, Wash., preaching. The interest from beginning to close steadily increased; it was the best meeting ever for the church. The preaching was well arranged for the services, and could not have been better. Sixteen responded to the invitation—five were baptized. If you are planning a vacation trip to the Northwest, worship with us."

—O—

Rufus R. Clifford, Old Hickory, Tenn., March 3: "One has been baptized, and three restored here in recent weeks. The attendance and contributions are running ahead of former years. The average in Bible school is over 700 at the present. We will soon enter the seventh year with this great church."

—O—

Cecil B. Douthitt, Box 67, Brownwood, Texas, March 6: "One man who had been a Methodist was baptized here at Austin Avenue yesterday. Boone Douthitt of Nashville, Tenn., will be with us for a meeting March 31 to April 9."

—O—

C. B. Shropshire, Box 24, Vancouver, Wash.: "We will move to The Dales, Ore., to begin full-time work, June 1. I have been preaching for the congregation there on a part time basis since last fall, and have observed some favorable progress. Will assist the church in Hood River in a meeting the last two weeks of May. Could arrange two other meetings prior to that date, if immediate arrangements are made. Telegrams will reach me at phone 4646-R2, Vancouver, Wash."

—O—

Hoyt H. Houchen, % Central Church, 14th & Moore, Amarillo, Texas, February 24: "Our work here at Central in Amarillo, Texas is very pleasant and encouraging with increase in attendance at all services. Recently, five hundred and twenty-two were present for Bible classes. Eighty have responded since our work began last September 11. During the month of January there were twenty-two additions: five baptisms, nine restorations, and eight transfers of membership."

—O—

To Debate Pepper J. P. Lusby, Wellington, Texas, March 10: "I will engage R. F. Pepper (Missionary Baptist) in a debate at Buck Creek Baptist Church, just a few miles west of Wellington, March 29-April 1. The general church question will be discussed."

—O—

Will M. Thompson, 311 E. Central Boulevard, Anadarko, Oklahoma: "On last evening, I closed six nights of debate with I. W. Yandell, of Free Will Baptist fame. The debate was pleasant throughout. Dr. Yandell is 74 years of age and is much stronger physically than I anticipated. This was our fourth debate. We needed only time keepers.

—O—

I begin a two-Sunday meeting at Woodville, Calif. today, and will be at Van Nuys April 13 to 26, I will then moderate for J. P. Lusby in debate with R. F. Pepper (Baptist) at Wellington, Texas. Then back to Anadarko, Okla., first Sunday in April"

—O—

Eugene Lowry, 406 N. Union, Whitesboro, Texas, March 13: "I have accepted work with the church here, and my new address is as above. We have a new brick building and I believe a faithful membership of about 75. We are anticipating a good work."

—O—

Vaughn D. Shofner, 1506 24th Place, Lubbock, Texas, March 13: "D. H. Perkins, Denver, Colo., will preach in the spring meeting at Southside, March 31-April 9. Four were baptized here yesterday."

—O—

Will M. Thompson, 311 E. Central Boulevard, Anadarko, Okla.,: "Closed meeting here last night., two restored. Begin tonight at Van Nuys, will be there till March 26. Moderate debate for Paul Lusby and R. F. Pepper, Wellington, Texas, beginning Wednesday March 29. After this, back to Anadarko to resume work there the first Sunday in April Let all preachers and members who love the truth and the principles for which the Gospel Guardian stands boost the paper by sending in Clubs of subscribers. We can all do it, if we will put forth the effort."

—O—

Grover Stevens, 1218 Phyllis Ave., Louisville 8, Ky., March 13: "During the past thirteen months, there have been sixty-eight responses at Taylor Boulevard — twenty-seven baptized, nine restored, and thirty-two identified with us. Several of these were formerly members of denominations —three were Roman Catholics. Our Bible study and Sunday evening attendance has reached an all-time high of 288 and 191 respectively. Sunday morning attendance of 340 is about 40 less than a year ago when about one-third of the congregation left to start a new work. Perfect peace and harmony now prevail. Roy Cogdill will be with us in a meeting, April 13-23."

—O—

Philip G. Speer, "I have moved from 1706 Laurel Ave., Knoxville, Tenn., to 1240 Poppen Dr., Memphis 10, Tenn.

I begin a three Sunday meeting first Sunday in April I have some time for meetings not taken."
