The Point That Was Overlooked

Cled E. Wallace

Sometime ago, I asked the esteemed minister of the College church in Abilene, to help me "get the facts straight." I stated my problem this way:

I'm a bit worried about a church's right to plan a big program that it can't pay for, and too sacred to be criticized, and line up "contributing churches" to work through the "sponsoring church."

The good brother misunderstood me. He evidently thought I wanted him to write a personal biography. In reply to my very reasonable request, he wrote a long article in the Firm Foundation, telling the readers of that worthy journal all the meanness he knew, or had ever heard about, me. I knew that already, and think most of the brethren did. There is nothing new about that. Brethren have been running to the Firm Foundation with that story for years. They can always find a place to weep over my sins on the ample bosom of that worthy old matron. Now, what we want is something new. Tell us what the New Testament says on that point you overlooked.
