Cogdill's "New Testament Church"
In this issue of the Bible Banner will be found a full-page ad introducing to the readers an exceptionally fine treatise on the New Testament Church by our well-known and capable evangelist, Roy E. Cogdill. While his book has been in circulation for some time the Bible Banner has not had opportunity to call attention to it in this way. We are inserting this announcement of "The New Testament Church" not only in recognition of its value, but also of the worth of its author to the Cause of New Testament truth in his teaching and preaching. He does not have a superior as a preacher of the plain gospel. His book reflects his preaching. It is in outline form, but with comments full enough to make it a treatise on the many phases of the New Testament Church, which makes it not only adapted for special use in classes but for general use and private study. It is bound in cloth, and is a good book for the library shelf. About one thousand copies of this book remain of its second edition. They should be ordered in lots by the dozen for classes or single volumes for individuals. We would like to know that this announcement in the Bible Banner will exhaust the second edition and make it necessary for Brother Cogdill to bring out the third in order to supply the demand for it. -F. E. W. Jr.

Dear Brother Wallace: The March issue of the Banner will prove historic. Your article, "Concerning Persons, Movements and Innovations," is not only exactly true but is exceptionally timely.-C. A. Norred, Amarillo, Texas.

I notice that our work (John Wolfe Mexican work) was complimented by being left out of Brother Janes' will. That wasn't an accident.-Mack Kercheville.

May the Lord bless you in your firm stand for His word and the church of our Lord. The Last Will And Testament of Don Carlos Janes reminds me of Balaam and his conduct after he had done all in his power to defeat Israel, even selling out to Balak. But God made him talk and say the things that He wanted him to say, just as he did the ass. Then Balaam cried out "Let me die the death of the righteous" - but did he? No, he was buried, says the prophet, with the burial of an ass. He was slain in battle, and the vultures picked his bones. Thus died a man who practiced wickedness for money.-R. T. Harris, Abilene, Texas.

Loyal brethren everywhere will appreciate and endorse everything said in your comment on the "Janes' Will." Also we appreciate its being made public. Surely such will help in stamping out "Religious Racketeers." If the sums named are used as authorized by Janes it will help further publish and teach error, even though the money was given for preaching the Gospel. But I feel such publications as yours will wonderfully hinder this sinister work.
There are a few named in this Will whom the brethren have long felt worthy of support; but, as you have said, their acceptance of the legacy brands them unsound to the core. Jorgenson's name should be sounded more in the times to come, and for the protection of the loyal churches the names of every person who becomes a legatee should be made known if their is any way of learning same. Jorgenson, and all others evil enough to share in this money obtained under false pretense will, no doubt, make an effort to keep things secret now; but I am hoping you or some one else will find a way to make this known to the brethren if and when they do accept their share. If such can be done, I, for one, plan to file names and keep records in the future so that when such men are named by well-meaning brethren I shall know what stand to take. -Chas. L. Heron, Colorado City, Tex.

Dear Brother Wallace:
Would you mind announcing in the next Banner that I am to be guest speaker on WLW, "The Nation's Station," Lord's Day morning, May 21, on "The Church by the Side of the Road" program? This broadcast begins at 8:45, central war time, and is a station sponsored arrangement--all except the subject and truth discussed in it as I shall speak on "The Present Truth." As it is not every day that gospel preachers are invited to speak on such a popular station and to such a vast audience as "The Nation's Station" enjoys, I shall be pleased to have as many as possible of Banner readers. If any can use a few or more small cards, to be distributed at services, such will be supplied upon receipt of card or letter stating the number that can be profitably used. Address me at 711 West Ninth, Anderson, Ind.-F. L. Paisley.
