Plain Talk Policy

Robert F. Turner

Ever so often we beg the patience of old-time readers, while we explain PLAIN TALK to our new readers. This paper is published by the Oaks — West church of Christ, Burnet, as a part of their teaching program. Bro. Joe Fitch. local preacher. writes one article each month, and all other material is written by the editor. (We fudge a little, by devoting one page to quotations from church history.) We try to keep a variety of material before our readers, but make no secret of our special interest in current problems of our day.

The Burnet church solicits no outside financial support of this effort and is embarrassed by occasional contributions sent by well-meaning folk. You can help us most by introducing PLAIN TALK to honest readers. We do not expect all to agree with us, but search for those who will sincerely study Gods word with us.

Now and then some one will send us the directory of some liberal group and request the paper be sent to all of these. Our standard reply: Please select 12/15 whom you know to be sincere Bible students, likely to give honest consideration to our material. We are not in the spanking business and realize we can not force truth into reluctant, rebellious people. We operate within our own means, and can not afford to cast pearl even if this were right. (Matt. 7:6) RE CHANGES OF ADDRESS

In this age of shifting population it is difficult to keep up with those who really want PLAIN TALK, but fail to notify us of their move. We dutifully pay the Post Office several dollars each month, to furnish us address change information; then purchase and address new mailing stencils for people who or not want our product.

We are about to adopt the policy that IF YOU REALLY WANT THE PAPER, YOU WILL SEND US YOUR ADDRESS CHANGE.

We are aware this will work a hardship on a forgetful segment, but it is becoming a necessity — as we try to keep our spending in line with our income, and make the best possible use of this particular effort.
