WE'VE GOT SOMETHING GOOD GOING ON TRACTS: Recently we advertised the Lamplighter series of tracts on a special clearance deal - $5.00 per hundred. We have sold thousands from this advertisement. And, they are good tracts. We are going to reprint them in a new and improved edition. We still have them on hand, so order while still available.

...NOW comes another special on tracts. Several years ago The Gospel Guardian purchased thousands of The Sower series of tracts. We still have thousands of them on hand. Preachers, teachers and others will be pleased with this book. 415 pages. $5.95.

5. Rare book back in print! "The Gospel Preacher - Vol. 1" by Benjamin Franklin. This great work has been out of print for several years, and copies are to be found only in rare libraries. Bible Land Tours:

With the lessening of tensions in the Middle East, tours of the Bible lands are "go". Last week Ferrell Jenkins advertised his 5th tour in The Gospel Guardian. Ellis Crum, editor of the Sacred Selections songbook, is going. He has been several times as leader of a group. It looks like this spring and summer will offer excellent opportunities for Bible land tours. Watch the pages of The Gospel Guardian for further information.

DON R. TAAFFE 3118 San Jose, Tampa, Florida - November 17, 1970 - "Terry Sumerlin of Refugio, Texas will conduct a meeting at the DUNDEE CHURCH OF CHRIST, Dundee, Florida January 20-26, 1971. Brother Sumerlin was the regular preacher at Dundee from October 1969 to May 1970. We recently had two baptisms at Dundee."

A LETTER ABOUT PREACHERS FINDING WORK: "Gentlemen and brethren - I wish to add a hearty AMEN to the article in the Oct. 22, '70 issue of the G.G., entitled 'Preacher Shortage?' I have had similar experiences to the young preacher described. I am 29 years old and have 11/2 years experience in preaching - with good results. Yet, I'm told I'm too young and inexperienced. Many churches would not have me because I am single. (The apostle Paul would have a 'rough' time of it today too, I guess, since he was single.) One day I took the two most recent editions of the G.G., (this was last spring or summer) and noted five congregations looking for evangelists. I sent several-page, double-spaced typed letters to each of these churches, giving my background and character references. (I've got 2-3 years college credit from a Lutheran college and from Harding College.) I typed each letter separately - no carbons or mimeo copies. The Results: Two churches never bothered to even answer my letter. Two others wrote and said they already had a man (I waited several weeks to finally learn this.) The fifth congregation wanted me to come and then changed their mind and wrote and told they had decided they wanted a married man with more experience. (I hadn't mentioned any salary or money.) What is really disheartening, I believe, is the fact I had no problem getting appointments and requests to preach when I was in the liberal camp. However, since coming out of liberalism some six to eight months ago, I can't seem to find anyplace that will let me preach. I've talked with hundreds of brethren in perhaps a dozen sound churches and have only had four requests to preach (and I first volunteered for these opportunities.) I do not ask that full support be a necessary requirement or prerequisite (although this is preferable as it frees the preacher to work full time.) If full support is not available, I'm willing to work 'with my hands.' I'm ready, willing and able to preach the word. Will someone please contact me? In the Master's service, R. A. Gilbertsen, Apartment 170 1701 N. Irving Hts., Dr., Irving, Texas 75060."
