John G. Reese, Box 2063, Vernon, Texas, December 19: "C. R. Nichol preached in a very fine meeting here at Houston and Pease which closed on the second Sunday in December. Brother Nichol was at his best and preached the gospel with power. His work was of lasting benefit to the church. It was a privilege to have him with us in—0—this meeting."

Ward Hogland, 1914 Jenny Lind, Fort Smith, Ark.: "During the past three months several have been baptized, others restored, and some have transferred membership here at Park Hill. The attendance and contribution are reaching encouraging levels. The response to the Hogland-Kesner Debate has been good. The comments from preachers who have read the book have also been encouraging. If you desire a copy, send one dollar to me at the above address."

John H. Gerrard, 4401 W. Broadway, Louisville, Ky., December 15: "Several have placed membership recently, and one was baptized last Sunday evening. The work at West End is on the increase. The progress on the new church building has been retarded because of unusually bad weather."

—O—

Chaplain Frank Trayler, 1406 Clower St., San Antonio, Texas, December 18: "One Airman was restored at Chapel No. 4, Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas, recently. Services are held at 2:00 p.m. now instead of 3:00 p.m. on Sundays."

—O—

Joseph H. Cox, 1044 Lotus Ave., Louisville, Ky., December 1: "Just closed a good meeting with the church at Northwest and Chicago Streets, Lebanon, Ind., where J. D. Parker is the faithful preacher. The attendance was excellent throughout. One was baptized. Recently there have been three baptized here at Atwood in Louisville. At the invitation of the elders of the Atwood congregation, I begin my third year's work here."

—O—

Glenn E. Green, 1402 W. Pikes Peak, Colorado Springs, Colo.: "Since beginning work here October 15 ten have been added to the congregation—five baptized and five by membership. We are anticipating a good work with this fine church."

—O—

Joe H. Morris, 2707, Kentucky Ave., Paducah, Ky., Dec. 11: "Clements Street Church enjoyed a banner day yesterday. One was baptized. Announcement was made of the purchase of adjoining property on which to build a new meetinghouse to accommodate the ever increasing attendance. We plan to build a sensible building with seating capacity of 600, in which to serve and worship the Lord, and not with which to show off. Without previous announcement, the contribution toward this end was $1,592.60. All contributions the rest of the year will go into this fund.

Building will start at the earliest possible moment. Our daily radio program is getting results. We are enjoying the work with these brethren, whom we have known most of our lives. Though hard, the work is pleasant. Clements Street has a very bright future if we can keep the devil out of it. More power to you and the Guardian brother Yater!"

—O—

Max L. Johnson, 410 S. College, Tahlequah, Okla., Dec. 11: "After the sermon last night, entitled "The Modern Dance —Its Causes, Environment, and Effects," six of our young people came forward to confess their participation in the dance. All of our young people haven't gone to the dogs yet! The week before, one was restored after having been unfaithful for years."

Bryan Vinson, 5212. University, Dallas, Texas, December 26: "With the year rapidly approaching its end, we should be exceedingly thankful for life and all its blessings; and strive to express our gratitude to God by making life more worthwhile in an ever intensifying and enlarging effort to accomplish more in His service. I have recently been with the Temple Terrace congregation in Tampa, Florida. This engagement afforded me the opportunity of associating with the students and faculty of Florida Christian College, a delightfully pleasant and deeply enriching experience. The capable administration under the presidency of James Cope is, perhaps, best attested by the very select faculty of scholarly men possessed of strong convictions of, and love for, the truth. Though composed principally of young men, yet they are men of note for their scholastic attainments possessing a breadth of knowledge and depth of understanding which excites the admiration and merits the confidence of all who know them. I left with the persuasion that this school is entitled to the confidence of all, and the financial support of those in a position to render such assistance."

—O—

W. Wallace Layton, 145 North Country Club Road, Tucson, Arizona., December 21: Roy Cogdill just closed a meeting with us at the Country Club Road congregation. Five were baptized and, one was restored. The preaching was the best, and brother Cogdill endeared himself to all here. He accepted our invitation to return in 1951. We now have 186 members. The church here has a little more than doubled its membership in one year. The finest fellowship exists and our 'peace is first pure then peaceable'."

—O—

George T. Jones, Box 453, Nacogdoches, Texas, December 20: "Two were baptized in our recent meeting, both sectarians. Roy L. Foutz of Lawton, Okla., preached in a very commendable way. Two colored men were baptized here recently as a result of our daily radio program."

Robert B. Todd, Route 2, Box 1298, Bremerton, Wash., December 14: "We opened our new building on December 3. On December 4 Lloyd Moyer of San Leandro, Cal., began a ten-day meeting with us. The meeting concluded last night, December 13. Six were baptized, and three were restored. The meeting was well attended and brother Moyer's inspiring lessons greatly strengthened the church. We are looking forward to a great work in this area."

—O—

A. B. Finley, Box 158, Italy, Texas, December 12: "I have resigned my work with the church here, effective March 1, 1951. For information concerning the work at this place, write Wesley Almand, Route 1, Italy, Texas. They have a nice five-room house next door to the church building for the preacher. I have made no plans for the future at present."

—O—

Elmer Shackleford, Leedey, Okla., December 12: "Rue Porter preached in our fall meeting. Three were baptized, two of these were former members of the Baptist Church. I preached in a meting at Akron, Colo., in which three were baptized. I recently preached at Ridgley, Mo. There were no visible results. We are thankful for the continued interest shown here at home."

—O—

H. F. Manchester, Rising Star, Texas, December 13: "The work here is moving along better, it seems. Beginning this month the church here will support brother Varela full time in Calara, Old Mexico. I have time for two meetings next summer. I would like to hold a meeting in North Carolina or Georgia. Address me as above."

—O—

W. Woodrow Allen, 401 West 26th Street, Kearney, Neb., December 11: "Wilson Wallace closed a very good meeting here November 29. One elderly lady who has been a Methodist was baptized. Many other outsiders heard the gospel presented in a plain, forceful way."

—O—

Voyd N. Ballard, Box 642, San Pablo, Cal., September 29: "After eight months of very pleasant work with the church in Lindsay, Cal., I moved to San Pablo, Cal., to work with the church here. During my stay in Lindsay, fifteen were baptized, and about the same number confessed wrongs. We left Lindsay of our own accord and because the possibilities seem to be greater here in the Bay Area. James Smith of Riverdale, Cal., was selected to follow me in Lindsay and I predict for him a good work.

We look forward with keen interest to the work here. San Pablo congregation is young from the standpoint of years but already it is known throughout California for its soundness and loyalty to the truth, and is blessed with four good elders who are capable and efficient in their responsibilities. I spent the first part of September in a meeting in Corcoran, Cal., in which one was baptized, and one confessed sins. The one baptized was a 29-year-old lady who had been reared in the Catholic Church. She was sprinkled by them when a baby and had never seen anyone buried in baptism. Please note my change in address. Mail will reach me at the above box number in San Pablo. We are living at 1884 Powell Street in San Pablo. Our telephone number is BEacon 20260. The church building is located at Rumrill Blvd. at 20th Street. When visiting in the Bay Area in Northern California you will find a hearty welcome at this congregation. If you have friends or kin in this vicinity that might be interested in the way of truth, I will be happy to contact them if you send names and addresses."

Commend Voyd N. Ballard To Whom It May Concern:

We the undersigned leaders and members of the church of Christ worshipping at 400 East Hermosa St. in Lindsay, Cal., make the following statements concerning brother Voyd N. Ballard and his work as local preacher with this congregation:

Brother Ballard has worked as local evangelist of this congregation for the past eight months (from January 15, 1950 to September 24, 1950), and we feel that his work has been profitable to the church here.

We have found him to be sound in the faith, a fearless proclaimer and defender of the gospel.

During the time that he has labored with us peace and harmony have prevailed and there have been a number of baptisms and restorations. At present, as he leaves us, there is a good spirit of fellowship in the church and between him and the members. There is not now, nor has there been at any time during his ministry with us, any trouble or misunderstandings between him and this congregation. He is leaving us of his own accord and with our prayers and best wishes for his continued success in the preaching of the gospel.
