"The Bible Way Of Campaigning For Christ"

Pryde E. Hinton

Under the foregoing caption, Brother William H. Lewis says, "I have no reason to doubt the honesty and sincerity of the brethren who will take part in this gigantic effort..." He has just told about Brother Earl West's being the preacher of the Franklin Road Church that is sponsoring "The Greater Indiana Campaign for Christ."

"How come," Brother Lewis, that you "haven reason to doubt the honesty and sincerity of the brethren who will have part in this gigantic effort...?" Is this the same Earl West whose sermon is printed in this same issue of the Gospel Guardian, beginning on page 130? How in the world did a smart man "so ably set forth in this discourse" such principles concerning "CONGREGATIONAL COOPERATION," and then continue as preacher of the very congregation' that is sponsoring "The Greater Indiana Campaign for Christ?" Or am I wrong about this being the same Earl West? I hope I am in error on this matter.

Did you read Brother Yater Tant's note that prefaces Earl I. West's published sermon?

Has Brother West learned something from the New Testament that permits such church sponsorship that is supported by many churches? If so, I wish he would make it public in clear language... And, brother West, "Tell me the story simply, as to a little child, for I am weak and weary, and helpless and defiled." Remember, Brother West, I am the sinner whom Jesus came to save; so tell me the story simply!

Why don't we all stop "pussy-footing," and just "call a spade a spade"? If this is the same Earl West, there's something wrong with him! This was the Special, June 23.
