Hear The Prophets

W. Author Moody

No one can take the writings of the prophets and fulfill them to make himself the Christ, the Son of God!

Isaiah prophesied by inspiration, saying, "For unto us a child is born, unto us a Son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, The mighty God, the everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace." Isaiah 9:6.

Babies are unable to control the thoughts and activities of people, friend or enemy, in order to fulfill prophecy even if they had the minds to do it.

Joseph took Mary and the young child, Jesus, and left Bethlehem that same night for the land of Egypt. An angel of the Lord had appeared in a dream and warned him to arise from his bed, take the mother and baby and leave the country. They were to flee from King Herod who was causing lamentation, weeping and great mourning among mothers of sons. Herod had determined to slay all baby boys under two years of age from Bethlehem to Ramah. Matthew 2:13-18.

An angel appeared again to Joseph in Egypt and told him when he should return with the young child and Mary. Although Herod and they who sought the baby's life were now dead, Joseph and Mary were afraid upon returning and finding Herod's son, Archelaus, was ruling in Judaea. So they went on up to Nazareth of Galilee to live. Thus were the prophecies fulfilled which said, "Out of Egypt have I called my Son" and "He shall be called a Nazarene." Matthew 2:18-23.

No other infant could possibly have fulfilled the sayings of the prophets in such minute detail as did our Lord Jesus Christ in His coming.

Jesus was to be born at a set time after the command was given for rebuilding the walls of Jerusalem. Daniel 9:25. He was to be of the tribe of Judah and the seed of David. Micah 5:2, Psalms 132:11. He was to be born of a virgin, of the seed of woman. Isaiah 7:14-16, Genesis 3:15, Galatians 4:4. He was to be born in Bethlehem (Micah 5:2,) but God was to call His Son out of Egypt (Hosea 11:1) and He was to be called a Nazarene! Jeremiah 23:5, Matthew 2: 23. And there was to be mourning over slain children after His birth. Jeremiah 31:15.

Neither you nor Solomon the Wise could have searched out these prophetical sayings before they came true, pieced them together and fulfilled them as they actually were fulfilled during our Lord's infancy!
