Do You Have Enemies?

James Brand

One of the outstanding statements by the Lord was made when He said: Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them. --Matt. 7:12.

Jesus said, But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you.-Matt. 5:44.

He said, Blessed are ye when men shall hate you, and when they shall separate you from their company, and shall reproach you, and cast out your name as evil, for the Son of Man's sake. -Luke 6:22.

Paul wrote, If ye be reproached for the name of Christ, happy are ye; for the Spirit of glory and of God resteth upon you; on their part He is evil spoken of, but on your part He is glorified. And in verse fifteen he said, But let none of you suffer as a murder, or as a thief, or as a evil-doer, or as a busybody in other men's matters. -1st. Pet. 4:14-15.

To the Romans he wrote, Recompense to no man evil for evil provide things honest in the sight of all men. If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men. He wrote, Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, vengeance is mine; I will repay saith the Lord. Therefore if thine enemy hunger, feed him; if he thirst, give him drink; for in so doing thou shalt heap coals of fire on his head. Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good. -Rom.12:17-21.

To Timothy Paul wrote, Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution. - 2nd Tim. 3:12.
