Fear Not, Introduction:

A. Fear not; these are indeed words of comfort. These words, or their equivalent, are used by the Lord many times: 1) When he was seen coming (walking) upon the water, Matt. 14:27; 2) To the ruler of the synagogue whose daughter had died, Luke 8:50; 3) And many other times.

B. Others also spake these words of comfort. Notably, the angels.

C. We should follow the examples before us and use comforting words. 1 Thess. 4:18.

D. Fear not: Some reasons fear should be removed from our lives.

Fear Not: The Son Of God Has Come.

A. The angels spake these words. Luke 2:10,11.

B. This event was prophesied of God. Isa. 7:14; 9:6.

1, It did come to pass, Matt. 1:21,1:23 2. Foreknowledge and power of God is here exemplified.

C. Comfort is expressed in the reason he came.

1. He came to save sinners. Matt. 1:21; Matt. 10:29-32; Luke 12:32.

2. The comfort of salvation is offered to all who will obey. John 3:36; John 14:15; Matt. 28:18-20.

D. Fear not, salvation is in blood, Jesus shed his blood. Heb. 9:22; Matt. 26:28.

Fear Not: The Son Of God Is Raised.

A. Again; the angels spake these words. Matt. 28:5,6.

B. The resurrection of Christ is the cornerstone of the gospel. Rom. 6:4,5; 1 Cor. 15:3,4.

C. This resurrection is proved in the scriptures, 1 Cor.15:20, 21; Acts 17:2,3; 1 Pet. 1:3.

D. Christianity is the only religion that requires a faith in the resurrection from the dead of its founder. Matt. 16:18.

1. Cf. Mohammedanism. Confucianism: Buddhism: Mormonism.

2. One started by the Son of God: Others by mere men.

Fear Not: We Can Have A Crown Of Life.

A. The Lord spake these words. Rev. 2:10.

B. We can be raised to a new life. John 5:25, 1 Cox.. 15:51,52; 1 Thess. 4:16-18.

C. Some say, "Man is wholly mortal," Dead all over like Rover.

1. Cf. 1 Cor. 15:13-19.

D. Paradox: We all want to go to Heaven, none want to die.

1. Consider the example of Paul. Phil.1:23; 2 Tim. 4:6,7.

Conclusion:

A. Fear not: Jesus came, died, was raised, and will come again. John 14:1-3.

B. Wherefore comfort ye one another with these words.
