Reports

Thomas G. Butler, Box 1713, Lakeland, Florida: "Robert Jackson of Nashville, Tenn. , will be with the Lake Wire church in a meeting, October 23-30. Services will be nightly at 7:30. The first report I made for this church was thirty four years ago. I tell young preachers that if I had my life to live over, I would pick out a congregation and settle down for life."

John Bullock, 600 N. Collier, Grand Saline, Texas; "Our gospel meeting came to a close last Sunday night. We thank brother Dead Bullock for his many fine lessons during this series of services. We had excellent crowds at most every service. There were no responses, but we are convinced much good will come from this effort. My meeting with the church in Myrtle Springs closed on the 14th of August with six responses. I have held four meetings with these brethren, and this effort seemed to be the most fruitful of all. We earnestly solicit the prayers of the faithful in behalf of our work here in this difficult field."

Rollie B. Rankin, 1008 Parsifal St. NE, Albuquerque, N. M. 87112: "The church meeting at 8402 Zuni Road, SE in Albuquerque has just concluded a meeting with Warren R. Cheatham of Sunnyvale, California, doing the preaching. One was baptized during the meeting and the church here was strengthened by the lessons that were presented. We have had many visitors from all parts of the country stop and worship with us this summer. Anyone knowing of families moving to Albuquerque please send us their names and addresses so we can contact them."

Arnold Hardin, 2722 McCutcheon, Dallas, Texas, 75227:"The first Sunday in August we began our work with the Scyene Road church in Dallas, after three and one half years with the Oak Forest church in Houston, during which time we rejoiced to see 200 respond to the invitation. There are not as many good sound, faithful churches in this city as in some others of comparable size. Therefore we would like for all faithful brethren to know that when you move to the East section of Dallas that a good solid church awaits your fellowship in the Lord's word. We have high hopes for the work here and good growth is already taking place. You can easily find the building as it is just off Scyene Road, which intersects Loop 12 or Buckner Road by going East on Scyene until you get to Prairie Creek Road, which is just a few blocks from Loop 12. We are just West of the Mesquite city limits. You will find this to be a warm, friendly, group of people, who are interested in accomplishing a good work in this area. Come to see us and I believe you will agree and desire to help us build a strong church in the midst of Liberalism.

Kenneth E. Thomas, RFD #1, Box 5-B, Kirkland, Ill. 60146: "The month of August, so far we have had five responses to the gospel of Christ. These were all young people, two of whom were from Baptist background. In a meeting in July at Amberg, Wis., this writer was privileged to take the good confession from a lady who was 77 years old and then baptize her into Christ. The lady was formerly a Lutheran. In July the church here had a wonderful meeting with Ferrell Jenkins. He preached a series on, "Evidences of Christianity". I, for one, would urge brethren everywhere to use brother Jenkins in this series, if at all possible. He is fully qualified to treat the subjects with much force and his documented evidence is well presented. I am to be with the church which meets between Jennings and Jasper Falls for a meeting September 11-18. The church is located on highway #31."

Bob Felkner, 708 Williamson Drive, Bryan, Texas 77801: "We of the Twin City church would like to solicit the help of elders, preachers, and parents who may have friends or relatives living in the Bryan-College Station area. If you know of anyone here who might need to be contacted, please inform us."

R. D. Simmons, Sr., Box 1973, Victoria, Texas: "The church formerly known as the North St. church, here in Victoria, is now worshipping in their new building located on Glascow Street, in the Northcrest addition, just three blocks off the Hallettsville. Highway, #77. The new building is located just outside the present city limits, in a new real estate development; but will be taken into the city within a few months. Brother H. H. Webb of Sinton, Texas, was the contractor. From the beginning of my work here, in January 1964, the church at Edna, Texas, had contributed almost half of my support, and continues to do so.

During this time the churches at Spring Branch in Houston, Refugio, and Seadrift, Texas, also contributed to my support. In the past two years we have lost over 40 strong and faithful members, which has hindered our numerical growth. However, we do have a strong group of saints with which to work, and our future looks bright. Our contributions for the first six months of this year have averaged $176.20 per week. When travelling this way please meet for worship with us."

James L. Gay, Box 4064-UCI, Ibadan, Nigeria: "My family and I arrived as planned on the morning of July 29. We did not realize at the time that another political "coup" was under way, and in fact, involving the very airport where our plane landed. Within minutes after our arrival, our plane was seized, with all our luggage aboard. But since that time it has all been released to us, with everything still intact, for which we are thankful. Also, we are happy that Brother Speer and family, as well as we, and all the Nigerian brethren who met us were able to get away from the Ideja airport without being involved in any difficulty. Things are quite calm now, with the curfew lifted, and we can be on the streets at night, preaching as usual. The normal schedule of regular services had not been interrupted. We do not travel on the roads at night, but this does not hinder our work in Ibadan and Lagos. Will those who desire to write us please take note of our new address."

Ronnie Pope, 1009 South State, Tahlequah, Oklahoma 74464: "On or about the first of the year we plan to move to Tulsa to work with the East Central church. It is necessary that brethren here contact someone to work with the Central church here in Tahlequah by the time we leave. The church here can furnish a preacher's full salary and furnish a house. It is imperative that a preacher who is both sound in the faith and sound in leadership ability and judgment be secured. For any help that you can be in locating such a man, we will be grateful. Have them contact the Central church, 1009 S. State, Tahlequah, Oklahoma, 74464. Phone GL 6-3721."

Jack Gibbert, 107 Scott Drive Aux, 2, Myrtle Beach, S. C.: "We have just closed a one week meeting with Alton Elliott of Jesup, Ga. There were two baptisms during the meeting and a number of good contacts tra de. The church here continues to grow, as of this month we outnumber the liberal church that forced our "faction" to come out from among them. I will be needing support in this work beginning Jan. 1, 1967. I have one-fourth of this support promised to me by the brethren here at Myrtle Beach. They have agreed to support me and pay expenses during December so that I can travel around the country seeking permanent support for this work. I would appreciate hearing from anyone or congregation who can help in this work. I will furnish all information requested, or will visit with interested parties in December. Brethren, I doubt that there are many congregations who have as many "liberal" visitors as we have during the summer months, and we have been successful in teaching some and starting others to thinking. Won't you consider this work in your budget for 1967?
