A Public Debate

Jesse G. Jenkins and Mack D. Abbott have signed propositions for a six night debate on the dates of September 9-14, 1963. The debate will be held in the United Pentecostal Church's Building in Roswell, New Mexico. (1212 N. Washington). There will be two thirty minute speeches by each speaker each night. Though I have not received word as to the exact starting time, I suppose the discussions will begin at 7:30 each night. The proportions are as follows.

No. 1. The scriptures teach that there are three separate and distinct Persons In the Godhead; God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Ghost. — Jenkins affirms No. 2. The scriptures teach that the Name of Jesus Is the only Name to be used in the act of water baptism. — Abbott affirms

No. 3. The scriptures teach that the church of which I am a member is the true church in name, doctrine, and practice. — Jenkins affirms No. 4. The Jesus Name Pentecostal Church is scriptural in name, in doctrine and in practice.

— Abbott affirms No. 5. The scriptures teach that the spiritual gifts of 1 Corinthians 12 were for the apostolic age and ceased by the time of the death of the last apostle. — Jenkins affirms

No. 6. The scriptures teach that people today receive the Holy Ghost as in the days of the apostles with the evidence of speaking in tongues as the Spirit gave them utterance. — Abbott affirms Robert (Bob) Craig will moderate for Jesse G. Jenkins.
