Sermonette

W. W. Otey, Winfield, Kansas

The foundation of salvation is faith — a faith in God that never wavers; faith in his holiness; faith in his justice; faith in his mercy and love; faith that he is above all, and in all; faith that Jesus is his Son; faith that he is also the Son of Man; faith that the will of God is given to us in the Bible; faith that Jesus did truly give himself for our sins according to the teaching of that Bible. Without these fundamentals of faith there is no salvation.

Jesus overcame Satan when he did not yield to the temptations. He conquered death for himself when he came forth from the tomb; he will conquer death for all those who obey him. What a glorious thing it is to look forward to the time when he will come with all his angels; when the dead will be raised first, and all those who are living will be changed. Then we shall meet him in the air! Dear Reader, one hour with that numberless throng of the redeemed will more than repay for a lifetime of service and suffering. Let me admonish you as one who realizes that he is very, very near to the change that you love and serve him. He will never forsake you in your hour of need!
