Charts

Miss Mary Lou Campbell, Box 426, Albany, Kentucky will paint charts at reasonable prices. Sister Campbell has done a number of charts for me, she does a good job. — E. N. Lovell.

W. E. (Bud) Irvine, Box 616, Earth, Texas: "I held meetings in Canyonville and Lebanon, Oregon, and Renton, Washington during the latter part of February and all of March. The meetings resulted in 11 baptisms and 10 restorations. During the month of April there have been six baptisms and one restoration here in Earth. Lord willing, I shall be with the Loveland, Colorado congregation the first part of August this year."

Guthrie Dean, Box 69, Bald Knob, Arkansas: "The work progresses nicely at Bald Knob. Construction has begun on four additional classrooms. There have been seven baptisms and one restoration in the past few weeks. Pray for us."

L. L. Applegate, Cottondale, Florida: "A man and wife was baptized into Christ by the writer recently at Hosford, Florida. A man and wife was baptized in a meeting held in this town, last summer, we have about 10 Christian's meeting upon the first day of the week according to the New Testament order. I begin a meeting with the church there June 18th assisted by Bro. Fred Bogle of Orlando, Florida. We are praying for more to be added in this meeting. 'The harvest is great but the laborers are few'."

E. M. Lambert, Abilene, Texas: "Since some of you may know that I have been an elder at Northside Church here in Abilene for a long time, some of you may be curious as to why I wish my membership to be changed to North Park Church. It was hard for me to do, for I love North-side Church. But I had no choice other than to move. As to the reason, I will be very brief: I firmly believe that many of the churches of Christ are now pulling away from the Bible; instead of speaking where the Bible speaks, many are speaking where the Bible is silent. I can not worship with a congregation that puts human institutions (designed to do the work of the church) into their budgets, which the Bible says nothing about. Neither can I conscientiously continue to worship with a congregation that is sending $1,000.00 a year to the Herald of Truth cooperative, thus having part in a work which turns over a portion of the work of one congregation to the oversight of elders of another congregation."

Eugene Britnell, Box 83, Tuckerman, Arkansas: "I have just closed a meeting with the church in Bald Knob. Bro. Guthrie Dean preaches for that church, and is doing a good work in that area. The Lord willing, my remaining meetings this year will be in: Kennett and Caldwell, Mo.; Russellville, Tharptown, and Athens, Alabama; Clover Bend and Mtn. View, Arkansas. Brother Franklin T. Puckett is to hold our meeting here in August. We continue to have good attendance and interest in the work here. I have just published a book containing fifty lessons which we ran in our local newspaper .This is a good book for anyone, and especially for those who are not Christians. It will also be helpful for bulletin material and many other uses. It is entitled "Gems of Truth" and sells for 50."

Glenn L. Shaver, 3780 Marshall Street, Gary, Indiana: "C. G. Caldwell, Sr. of Manchester, Tennessee preached in our spring meeting and two obeyed the gospel. James W. Adams will preach in our fall meeting. A group from the church in Valparaiso, Indiana withdrew themselves recently because the elders refused to let a representative discussion of the issues be engaged in and further refused to stop their digressive steps. After all attempts to settle the differences between the brethren had failed, then the group started meeting in one of the brethren's home. They are having about twenty in attendance each Sunday with about $25 contribution. The church here sends someone to preach each Sunday."

Cecil B. Douthitt, P. O. Box 752, Fort Smith, Arkansas: "James Jones will begin work with the Southside Church in Brownwood, Texas, on July 1."

C. C. Doggett, 7816 IJ Street, Little Rock, Arkansas: "The congregation meeting at 201 Keightlet Drive will be engaged in a series of meetings for the purpose of preaching the gospel, beginning June 22 and ending June 28. Brother Robert Craig of Port Arthur, Texas, will preach for us. Brother Craig was a citizen of Little Rock and at that time was a member of a congregation meeting in Little Rock. We feel that the preaching and influence of Brother Craig will effect some of the many friends who have associated with him in the past.

The Keightlet Drive congregation has been branded as an "anti" group, because of our persistent opposition to institutional orphan homes and brotherhood projects, such as the Herald of Truth, all of which have no scriptural authority to exist. As far as we have been able to determine from all sources of information, we are the only group in this section that have taken this stand against such brotherhood institutions and projects, and we are determined that we will not engage in such, and will oppose such teaching in our midst.

Some of the congregations have accepted the brotherhood project and institutional idea one hundred percent. The others have accepted these departures to a degree, either large or small. But we do know that a percent of the members of these congregations are not one hundred percent in agreement with the leadership and acceptance of these digressions. Much could be said about the degree to which the various congregations of Little Rock have gone in these digressions. One congregation has reached the point where it is very hard to distinguish the difference between it and the denominations. We pray that much good can be accomplished through the preaching of the gospel by Brother Craig. We are anxious that all who learn about the meeting will attend."

Morris D. Norman, 100 Wingfield St., Rome, Georgia, May 15, 1959: "We have had five baptisms and nine restorations recently at Fifth Avenue. We begin construction on our new building in a few weeks at a new location. After 4 1/2 years here I will begin work with the Rosebank congregation in Nashville, Tennessee the first of August. I follow Bobby S. Reynolds who is going to Cedar City, Utah for mission work, supported by the Rosebank church."

Wm. E. Wallace, Box 399, McAlester, Oklahoma: "C. G. Caldwell, Jr. conducted a fine meeting here in April. James W. Adams will be with us in July in a meeting. The Southside congregation is progressing numerically, financially and spiritually. I have recently closed meetings with congregations in Savanna and Haileyville, Oklahoma and Bonham, Texas. Brethren in these three places are working in harmony with New Testament principles. I am glad to commend again The Gospel Guardian and its editor for the good work being done."
