I. What is baptism?

III. What is purpose of baptism?

1. Remission of sins (past) — Acts 2:38

2. Saves us — I Peter 3:21 & Mark 16:15-16 3. Puts in Christ — Galatians 3:27

4. Puts into one body (the church) — I Cor. 12:13, Col. 1:18 and Ephesians 1:22-3 $ 4:4

5. Can't get into the Kingdom (the Church) without baptism — John 3:5

6. Washes away sin — Acts 22:16, (Paul himself)

7. Purged from OLD sins — II Pet. 1:9

IV. Examples of baptism —

1. Christ himself (for example) — Matt. 3:16

2. Thousands in the book of Acts, they becoming Christians, therefore the same law and process today.

V. After baptism —

1. One becomes a child of God, a Christian, a saint, brothers and sisters, heir of God, Priest, the redeemed, member of THE church, ETC.

The Lord adds to his church — Acts 2:47

2. Name written in the book of life — Exodus 32:32-3 (Moses), Phil. 4:3, Revelation 3:5, 13:8, 20:11-15, Luke 10:20 (written in heaven)

3. After baptism if a Christian sins what should he do? Acts 8:22 (Simon), Acts 8:13 (already a Christian)

4. Baptism is the initiation into the church, the start of a new life, a spiritual babe in Christ where he can grow to be a spiritual man of God by the study of the holy word of God.
